Hello
Hi, I’m Amy
My name is Amy and I have been working within the hair industry for over eight years, with my journey originally beginning in hair extensions nearly ten years ago.
Hair has always been something I’ve been drawn to. From being a little girl, my nana always told me that one day I would end up doing hair for a living. At the time I didn’t believe her. My career actually began in business and other roles at Sellafield, but as it turns out… she was right. I often joke that she’s probably looking down now saying “I told you so.”
My journey into hairdressing truly began when I decided to retrain while I was sixteen weeks pregnant with my youngest child. I completed my Level 2 qualification and then went on to achieve my Level 3 the following year.
From there I moved straight into self-employment, creating a small home salon so I could balance raising my children while building a career doing what I loved. Traditional busy salons had always felt overwhelming to me, so creating a calmer, more personal environment where I could focus fully on my clients felt like the natural path.
That little home salon was built with the encouragement of my Uncle Paul and my partner. It was created from pure love and quickly grew through word of mouth and loyal clients who continued to trust me with their hair.
Over time I began to outgrow that small space. The moment I truly realised it was time for the next step was after returning from specialist hair loss training with Signature Scalp. I was already cramped in my little salon, and with such a life-changing service to offer I knew I needed more space to support my clients properly.
Opening a high street salon felt like a huge leap, and honestly I didn’t think I was capable of committing to something so big. But my partner believed in me long before I believed in myself and encouraged me to take that step.
Even then, the decision wasn’t mine alone. I spoke with the women who had supported me in my home salon because their comfort and trust mattered most. I needed to know they would feel the same sense of safety in a new space.
With their support, on 30th July 2025, I opened the doors to Spectrum Hair Boutique at 55 High Street in Cleator Moor.
About Spectrum Hair Boutique
Spectrum Hair Boutique is more than just a hair salon. It is a space designed around real experiences — both my own and those of the many people who have trusted me with their hair over the years.
My journey into specialising in hair loss began from a very personal place. I experienced my own struggles with hair loss and quickly realised that there were very few specialists locally offering the kind of support and solutions people truly needed.
As I continued working behind the chair I began seeing it more and more among my clients. Then one day a young girl came into my chair experiencing significant hair loss, and I realised I couldn’t help her in the way she truly needed. I remember leaving that day in tears because I felt such a strong responsibility to be able to do something for her.
That moment became the turning point.
My father supported me and invested in the training I needed so that I could begin learning how to properly help people experiencing hair loss. That was the beginning of my journey into specialist hair loss solutions and mesh integration systems.
Since then I have continued developing my knowledge through advanced training with Signature Scalp, alongside further education in trichology and alternative hair restoration solutions. This allows me to offer a range of tailored options because the truth is simple — hair loss is never a “one solution fits all” situation.
Every person who walks through the door has a different story, a different cause and a different path forward.
Spectrum Hair Boutique has been designed to reflect that understanding.
Unlike traditional busy salons, the space has been carefully created to feel calm, welcoming and supportive. The salon offers a private one-to-one hair room, allowing clients to discuss their concerns and receive treatments in complete comfort and privacy.
From lay-down backwash basins and electric massaging chairs to a relaxed atmosphere with drinks, snacks and genuine conversation, every detail has been thoughtfully planned so clients never feel overwhelmed.
Spectrum isn’t just about hair.
It’s about creating a space where people feel safe, understood and supported — whether they are coming in for a regular appointment or looking for help during one of the most vulnerable experiences of their lives.
